Treadmill Tempo Run

The weather in Seattle is becoming really unpredictable. It was somewhat sunny yesterday morning, and then about 30 minutes later it was raining. Now, it's never my choice to run in the rain or run on the treadmill - my preference is always outside and dry. However, I would MUCH rather run on the treadmill than run around my neighborhood in the rain.

When I was driving around Seattle yesterday in the Queen Anne neighborhood, I saw a BUNCH of runners. And you know what I did? I stared at everyone of them as they huffed along. I realized that most likely, every single car that passes me when I run around in the neighborhood probably does that as well. Do I like feeling like I'm being watched while I go through strenuous exercise? No- the only exception is on race day when people are cheering you on. Positive encouragement from strangers is always welcome. But feeling like I'm being judged while I'm trying to exercise... ugh. So, neighborhood running just isn't #1 on my agenda right now.

Therefore, it was another treadmill run for me yesterday. This was a tempo run, so I strived to make the middle 5 miles as fast as I could.

Mile 1: 5.0mph
Mile 2: 6.0mph
Mile 3: 6.2mph
Mile 4: 6.5mph
Mile 5: 6.6mph
Mile 6: 6.7mph
Mile 7: 5.0mph

And then the treadmill automatically reset because treadmills are stupid so I didn't get a picture of my end time. But I ran exactly 7 miles in 70 minutes, according to the treadmill. I felt like I was flying when I was running at 6.7mph, so I decided to equate that to an 8 minute mile. Whatever. Who knows how far I really ran.

7.81 or 7.0 miles.. who knows.

Pretty good tempo run!
Tonight we have our only Thursday night performance, and I'm feeling pretty good about the last weekend of performances. We've had great audiences and good energy throughout, and I've made some really great friends. I can't wait til the next musical, but I'm not sure exactly when that'll be - I have a callback on Monday (!!!), which is exciting, but I'm pretty sure I won't get cast. I'm okay with that! I'll probably devote most of the Spring doing wedding stuff anyways.

Marathon countdown: 17 days!!!
